Psalmist Raine If there is one word that defines the heart of the music ministry of Raine that word is “worship”. Her passion for God and her gifting of music collaborate to create a dynamic and unforgettable worship experience. Anyone who has witnessed this anointed vessel give honor to the Lord in a live setting knows that this woman isn’t about show, form or fashion, but her sole goal is to move the heart of God. She did just that at the live recording of her sophomore release, ReFresh Worship Live, a ground-breaking prophetic CD and DVD recording. Containing songs given on the spot, directly from the heart of God, the 23-track, 3-hour musical offering includes some of the most powerful and anointed music witnessed in the Gospel and Christian music industry. It’s no surprise coming from a Nominee for the Chicago Gospel Music Award for Praise & Worship Artist of the Year and the Winner of the Peculiar Artist Award from Kierra Sheard’s BRL (Bold Right Life) Chicago Chapter. It’s clear; Raine has set the world on fire for God. And that’s just a taste of the gifts that this talented woman of God has been given.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Rainehas been called to shareGod’s message of hope, love, healing, and deliverance with the world through the vehicle of song. Growing up in a home filled with music, her parents recall her humming the theme song to “All In The Family” at the age of 6 months. Both sides of her family were gifted with music, even through multiple generations. As early as the age of 4, Raine began hitting the airwaves singing on the Isabelle Joseph Johnson radio show on Sunday Mornings at 6AM, as well as being featured at the age of 8 on the Gatling’s Radio program on WYCA 92.3 FM, both in Chicago.
As she grew up, Raine participated in multiple church and community choirs, from childhood all the way to college. Each time she was recognized as a soloist or a lead singer. In college, Raine was given the opportunity to become a member of the University Choir at Grambling State University in Grambling, LA. Being a part of these musical groups afforded her opportunities to tour and travel throughout the U.S. and internationally.
Throughout her musical life, Raine has worked with a number of artists within the Gospel music industry. LeCresia Campbell, Bridget Campbell, Todd Dulaney, Kevin Gray, Maurice Griffin, Ernie Allen, Lonnie Hunter, Cynthia Nunn, Darryl Hallman, and Leon Dubose have all played a part in nurturing her gift, whether in the role of teacher or trainer of music. They are just a few of the people who have blessed her along her musical journey. In addition, some of Raine’s vocal talents and stage training were honed from her years of being apart of the Emmett Till Players under the tutelage of the late Mamie Till Mobley, mother of Emmett Till, whose death ignited the fire for the Civil Rights Movement.
In March 2013, she released her debut project, Believe Again – The Live Experience, to critical acclaim, including a Chicago Gospel Award Nomination. Believe Again – The Live Experiencecontained songs like “God Is In Control”, “Change Me” and “Miracle”. Her first project was just a preparation for the dynamic release that followed it. ReFresh Worship Live, recorded live on October 17, 2015 at Chicagoland Christian Center Embassy, took her ministry to an entirely different level.
“About a year ago, the Lord spoke to me about doing a live ReFresh recording,” recounts the psalmist. “I was excited because I had songs that God had given me. But He said ‘no’ to the songs I already had. He said that He wanted it to be a straight prophetic recording. That was very, very challenging for me. I had never heard of anyone doing a prophetic recording before. Literally, we had to remain open and build stamina and endurance for the presence of the Lord,” Raine says.
The result was an unmatched worship experience. Hundreds of worshippers gathered to witness a mighty move of God and music showered down directly from Heaven. Raine’s singers, musicians and dancers had rehearsed just one song, the opening number, and that was it. Every other song – 23 tracks to be exact – were inspired by the Lord. Those moved to speak “what thus saith the Lord” stepped to the mic periodically throughout the recording, making for a seamless flow between spoken word and song. Trackslike the lead single, “You Are Welcome”,“We Send Up Praise” and “Ride The Wave” pull every listener into Raine’s personal worship. Other memorable songs include “The Well”, “The Great Shepherd”, “Right Here In This Room” and “Fill Us”. Like the colors of the rainbow, each song provides a different beauty, but every track lifts up the living God. For those who were not blessed enough to be in the room on that evening, the night was captured on double-CD and on DVD.
Psalmist Raine has been aired on various TV Shows: TBN, Celebrate Live - Detroit, Cornerstone TV, Babbie's House, ATL Live, Real Life 360, Nite Line, Club 36 - SC, & Bridges. She's also been featured in various articles and press releases: Simple Grace Magazine, ShulamiteWomen. com, uGospel.com, & The Belle Report.
The project is catching the attention of the industry nationally, but as an ordained elder and praise & worship leader, Raine has not forgotten to serve in her home, being a wife and mother of three. She serves in her home church, Life in Christ Family Worship Center in Chicago, under the leadership of Pastors Royal & Kimberly McClinton. Raine takes the time to help mentor, train, and teach others purity in worship through musical worship experiences, the preached word, seminars, and conferences.

For Raine, it all comes back to worship. “When I am on stage, my mindset is really on creating an atmosphere conducive for God to inhabit,” says Raine. “When God enters, I feel His presence and the power arrests people. That’s what I long for, the presence of God.” BE REFRESHED!!!! written by: Andrea R. Williams of Tehillah Enterprises, LLC. Publicist of Psalmist Raine & The ReFresh Team
