So, did anyone catch or carry the burden that came with the assignment Ezekiel needed to carry? In these scriptures, we see not only instructions, but preparation (burden), intake (supply), and warning.
Ezekiel 2:3-8 NLT - Instruction/Call 3 “Son of man,” he said, “I am sending you to the nation of Israel, a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me. They and their ancestors have been rebelling against me to this very day. 4 They are a stubborn and hard-hearted people. But I am sending you to say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says!’ 5 And whether they listen or refuse to listen—for remember, they are rebels—at least they will know they have had a prophet among them. 6 “Son of man, do not fear them or their words. Don’t be afraid even though their threats surround you like nettles and briers and stinging scorpions. Do not be dismayed by their dark scowls, even though they are rebels. 7 You must give them my messages whether they listen or not. But they won’t listen, for they are completely rebellious! 8 Son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not join them in their rebellion. God has called us to spread the gospel here on Earth; for our Father wishes that none would perish (2 Peter 3:9). The task that he calls us to is not one that's full of lollipops and roses, but it can present challenges at time. God was very clear with the assignment he released Ezekiel to complete. He even expresses to him that they won't listen! HA! Funny, right??? So, some will think, "well, why is HE calling him to it?" Well, it can be for two reasons: 1. Seed planting 2. Test the obedience of His child. So, God gives Ezekiel instructions to prophesy. These instructions are not contingent upon the people receiving. The results of obedience or disobedience will come to pass based on the decision you make. God's instructions are sure and certain. It wasn't left up for debate or even questioning. Notice the position of Ezekiel - He was silent and receiving. Ezekiel 2:9,8 & Ezekiel 3:1-3 NLT - The Intake (Supply) "....Open your mouth, and eat what I give you.” 9 Then I looked and saw a hand reaching out to me. It held a scroll, 10 which he unrolled. And I saw that both sides were covered with funeral songs, words of sorrow, and pronouncements of doom. The voice said to me, “Son of man, eat what I am giving you—eat this scroll! Then go and give its message to the people of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and he fed me the scroll. 3 “Fill your stomach with this,” he said. And when I ate it, it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. Everything we need for what God is instructing us to do, is found and will be given by HIM! As some folks say, "God only pays for what He orders." There is no fear of whether you will have what is necessary to complete the assignment, because you will! Psalms 81:10 states the promises of the Lord, He says to open your mouth wide & I will fill it. John 7:38 says, " He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. " So, there is no need to worry or fear about the resources needed to fulfill what God has instructed you to do. This same principal and promise covers all bases from a simple word of encouragement to the next nationwide revival. Yes, the assignment can seem BIG or small to you, but the key is to walk in obedience RIGHT NOW, concerning all that God is calling you too!!! Just say YES! The Weight of Obedience Pt. 3 - The Burden & The Warning - this week, stayed tuned! *Be ReFreshed!!!*
